Both displays are running at 60Hz. Via standard thunderbolt to mDP or DP connection, there was no extra configuration necessary - it just worked. Regarding retina support: yes, non-native pixel retina resolutions can be enabled and are supported just as they are on the built-in 5K display; they look great, though I tend to run these external displays at x more often than not.

Parallels didn't like it. Not at all. I did solve that problem eventually and I'm planning a write-up on the steps I took and the solution shortly , but it was not all that smooth sailing for a while. Anyway, I wanted to be able to plug in a second inch monitor which would take one of the Thunderbolt ports, using it as a Mini DisplayPort adapter, along with a USB slot.

Don't go pulling the trigger on ordering this just yet. It didn't work very well. That took the second Thunderbolt port, again using it as a Mini DisplayPort adapter.

That gave me connections to the inch outboard monitor and one of the two inchers. Neither of my two existing monitors had HDMI, so this was the only way to go.
